Hello Brave Girls! Welcome to the Soul Restoration Blog Hop. If you are following the blog hop, you came here from Lacey’s blog. I’m so glad you stopped by. Back in January, as winter bore down on me following the holidays, I decided at the very last minute to sign up for Soul Restoration. Winter is hard on me and I was ready for some creative inspiration. I didn’t sign up in time to get all of Melody’s sweet materials and I was determined to use things I already had in the studio. I’m an avid journaler so I welcomed all those soul searching prompts. Below is my first entry as I began the class. I must admit, I am still not enthusiastic about using Mod Podge in my journal. I do a lot of writing and have only recently started to illuminate my journal. I did enjoy using all of that gooey stuff in other projects though.
The Soul Restoration class was amazing! Melody and Kathy have a beautiful lesson to teach and it was taught in a creative, meaningful way. The number one thing I got from the class is the importance of bringing light into this dark world. That WE are bringers of light. For me, as a believer in Jesus Christ, this lesson held deep meaning. When I first started the class, I was concerned about the content of the class in respect to my faith. I was immediately relieved to find a great faith-based group on the Brave Girls forum. The course materials and the truths I discovered were divinely inspired!
Too often we spend our time looking at the worst in ourselves. We allow ourselves to believe terrible lies. I wrote in my journal on February 3 as I reflected on the week’s lesson in Soul Restoration: “There is a change happening in me. I am seeing the lies I tell myself more clearly than before. I understand better the whispers of the deceiver. I know I will fall down again and again, but Lord, I want to trust YOU to lift me back up. The message is clear. Love one another. Love God with every thing you have, love Him, even with your weak and fragile parts. He already knows about them anyway. He allows some of it to remind us we need HIM.”
While taking this course, I read the book “One Thousand Gifts” by Ann Voskamp. The quote I wrote in my journal took my breath away when I first read it. I knew at that moment, I was on the right path. Soul Restoration gave me tools to help me see the beautiful, true things in my life. Day by day I am learning to replace lies with the truth. I am grateful!
If you made it this far in my post, you deserve a prize. So I’m having a giveaway! Please comment and say hello! I will draw a name on Monday, March 7th. I don’t have a fancy photo of the prize but the lucky winner will receive a copy of the book “One Thousand Gifts” and some goodies from my studio stash. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for stopping by. Your next stop on the hop is Lynn at Ruby Rabbit Studios.

ReplyDeleteI love the way that you journal and I think that you must get to
"the heart of the matter" very quickly this way. Have been wending my way through some of my mother's journals over the past weeks. We never knew that she journaled so it came as a bit of a shock. Needless to say, I feel as if I know her in a deeper way.
Lots of blessings to you today, my friend!
What a wonderful giveaway. I've heard so much about the book, yet haven't read it. I love how you journal...beautiful work. It's so good to see you blogging again, dear friend. Hugs

ReplyDeleteI was worried, too, that the BG SR might be contrary to my Christian beliefs. But then, "greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world". And I decided I could always quit. But when Melody said that her Truthteller is Jesus...it was all ok.
