Incredible

My youngest daughter has really had her ups and downs since graduating from college last May. Mostly a lot of downs. The economy has hit her especially hard and her attempt at creating a life in Philadelphia wasn't too successful (apart from seeing the Phillies win the World Series and meeting a really nice Irish friend). At Christmastime, she gave up her apartment and moved to Northern Virginia with family to seek employment, hopefully at a theater in Washington, DC. Imagine her surprise when she found a job within a couple of weeks as an Assistant House Manager for Ford's Theater.

This last Wednesday, Karen had the privilege of working during the Gala Re-opening of the theatre. This is a photo of her at the front of the theater with the "front of the house team". She had the opportunity to see, in person, a number of celebrities and the President and First Lady. It was an exciting night for her.

I've read a number of scathing remarks online about the social elite and how these nights just aren't necessary during hard economic times. Tell that to my daughter. We only see the big-wigs at these events. We never see the "little people" who make a living in support of the flash. I am extremely proud of Karen. She doesn't come from a background that understands the arts. But she has worked really, really hard to make a life for herself.

Wednesday night was her reward.

As to your daughter, she is incredibly beautiful. Her smile I can see lights us a room. Great job on working so hard to achieve a goal. You have every right to be proud of her. She can be proud too.
